Is Project+ Right for You?
Project+ is designed for professionals who manage small to medium-sized projects as part of their role. You don't need years of dedicated PM experience or prior certifications — you can go directly to Project+ as your first project management credential.
If you're working as — or aiming to become — any of these, Project+ validates your skills:
- Project Coordinator
- Project Manager / IT Project Manager
- Business Analyst
- Team Lead
- Operations Manager
It's also ideal if you're in a technical role — IT support, development, engineering — and you find yourself managing projects alongside your regular work. Project+ formalizes what you're already doing and gives you the credential to back it up.
How Project+ Compares to PMP and PRINCE2
Project+ is more versatile than other certifications. It covers foundational project management concepts without locking you into a single methodology. While PMP and PRINCE2 target advanced, specialized project management roles with years of experience required, Project+ is built for beginners and professionals managing smaller projects — making it the ideal first step.
After earning Project+, you can pursue advanced certifications like PMP (Project Management Professional) for deeper expertise, PMI-ACP (Agile Certified Practitioner) for agile methodologies, or ITIL for IT service management.
Why Employers Value Project+
Project+ demonstrates to employers that you can effectively plan, execute, and deliver projects — coordinating resources, managing risks, and keeping things on track in fast-paced, dynamic environments. It's recognized internationally across industries, making it valuable whether you're working in tech, healthcare, finance, government, or any other sector.
While Project+ is not directly listed under DoD 8140/8570 requirements, it is valuable for government and military roles involving project management — equipping you with the skills to manage IT and operational projects aligned with mission-critical objectives.
What's New in Project+ V5
The latest version introduces updates that reflect how projects are actually managed today — including agile and hybrid methodologies, emerging technologies, expanded communication skills, deeper risk management coverage, and updated tools and techniques.
